  • At a minimum you will need a 200 amp electrical panel and breaker space in order to have a heat pump installed. If you do not have an adequate electrical panel, we can work directly with a licensed and bonded electrician to get your panel up to spec. This cost will be itemized on your bid.

  • If you are moving away from oil heat, we will facilitate the decommissioning or removal of your oil tank. This cost will be itemized on your bid.

  • We typically recommend getting a full duct cleaning performed when we install a new furnace or heat pump. We work closely with Kleen Rite duct cleaners and will facilitate the cleaning at the time of install. This cost will be itemized on your bid.

  • Most older furnaces offer little to no resale value so they end up being scrapped for the metal. If your furnace has no issues and is fairly new, we will often donate it to someone less fortunate.

  • Yes, heat pumps can be installed in your side yard, but there are a few code requirements that must be met. In the city of Seattle, the equipment must be a minimum of 3 feet from the property line to meet mechanical code. However, the strict sound ordinance will likely not be met at 3 feet, so we suggest having at least 6 feet from the side of your home to the property line.

  • Mitsubishi makes the quietest heat pumps on the market which range from about 48 to 55 dB(A).

  • We suggest placing a winter cover on your ac during the colder months. You will need to make sure the cover is removed before your turn the system on again.

You should never cover your heat pump as these systems will be running in heating and cooling and will need airflow through the unit all year round.

  • For a ducted systems with a four-inch pleated filter, we suggest checking your filter quarterly. Pull your filter out and hold it up to the light. If you see little or no light coming through the filter, then it needs to be replaced. Keep in mind, the cleaner your filter is, the more efficient your system will run, and the cleaner your air will be. Maintaining a clean filter will also prolong the life of your equipment.

  • A SEER rating, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, is a critical metric in the HVAC industry. It quantifies an air conditioning system or heat pumps energy efficiency by representing the ratio of cooling output (measured in BTUs) per watt-hour of electricity consumed. To illustrate, a 14 SEER-rated AC unit delivers 14 BTUs of cooling output for each watt of electricity used in an hour. In essence, the higher the SEER rating, the more efficient and energy-saving the air conditioning unit becomes. Understanding SEER ratings empowers consumers to make informed choices for a cost-effective and environmentally friendly cooling solution.
